Important Information Regarding COVID-19

In recognition of ongoing news reports and the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus, we realize our patients have questions. As dedicated health care professionals, we want you to know that we remain as diligent as ever in protecting the health and safety of our patients and staff. Our practice strictly adheres to and exceeds the standards for infection control by wearing personal protective gear, using hospital-grade disinfectants, practicing the latest sterilization protocols, utilizing single-use disposable materials, and more. Every effort we have in place is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. We want you to know that we are monitoring this situation very closely, and we will keep you updated regularly.

Symptoms of coronavirus are reported as flu-like, with varying degrees of severity. While we do not know everything about this virus to date, individuals who are elderly and/or immunocompromised appear to be the most at risk of a severe infection. To ensure your health and safety, and the health and safety of everyone at our practice, here are some of our additional guidelines we have put into place for our patient and staff protection.

UPDATEALL APPOINTMENTS FROM 3/31 – 5/17 HAVE BEEN CANCELED.

WE WILL BE CALLING TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.  DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE NUMBER OF CANCELATIONS due to Covid-19, LACK of ADEQUATE PPE and NEW REGULATIONS with social distancing and aerosol producing procedures, we unfortunately will not be able to resume our normal schedule.  As such, we are scheduling the most emergent and pressing appointments first.  Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as we are trying our very best to see everyone in a timely manner while at the same time keeping you, our staff and the entire community safe and healthy!

Dr. Kaci is reviewing each patient’s treatment status as appointments are rescheduled to minimize the impact this delay will have on your overall treatment time.

If you have an URGENT need during this time, such as pain or injury, we will be available for emergency appointments. Please call our office (319-385-5270) and follow the prompts to the emergency line so we may determine the best course of action for your specific situation.  If you have a pressing question or concern, feel free to email us at [email protected].  We will not be checking voicemail on a daily basis, so email is the best way to contact us during this pandemic.  We look forward to seeing you back in our office soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

NEW POLICIES regarding COVID-19

The health and wellbeing of our staff and patients is our primary concern.   Therefore, we are following the American Dental Association (ADA) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for healthcare providers:

All patients calling to schedule an appointment, or checking in for an appointment, will be screened with the following two questions:

1. Have you traveled outside of the country in the past 14 days? If yes, what countries?

2. Do you currently have any flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, or difficulty breathing?

If the patient has traveled to any of the countries on the CDC’s COVID-19 travel-advisory list (China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong), we will be asking them to schedule/reschedule following a 14 day waiting period.

If patients indicate they have any flu-like symptoms, we will be asking them to schedule/reschedule following a 14 day waiting period.

Staff experiencing influenza-like-illness (ILI) (fever with either cough or sore throat, muscle aches) should NOT report to work until a 14 day waiting period and will not be allowed to travel to any of the countries on the CDC’s COVID-19 travel-advisory list.

ALL high-touch areas will be sanitized on a continual basis throughout the day and we will continue to follow our strict sterilization protocols to ensure all of our instruments are sterile and safe per the ADA infection control and OSHA guidelines.

If you have influenza-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or runny nose, or have traveled to any country on the CDC advisory list in the last 14 days, please call 319-385-5270 to CANCEL and RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

We thank you in advance and extend our gratitude for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we can help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office, and one of our staff members will be more than happy to assist you.  We will update our patients as soon as we can if anything more changes.
